Smashbox x Criterion // Film Series

Smashbox Studios & Industrial Color invited our Founder to consult for a 6 month project, to concept and produce an event series with a goal to bring in creative leaders across all mediums of the LA community, to showcase their new DTLA studio space. She created a film series “The Visual Medium” in partnership with criterion collection, the much beloved art-house film collective. She asked guest curators to select a film from Criterion’s archive and discuss how it had inspired their work. Our first event was curated by Glen Luchford, famed fashion photographer; screening Wim Wenders’ seminal 70’s film, The American Friend. The reception featured original posters of the film’s international releases, loaned by Film Art Gallery; dj Radio Rahill – lead singer of the NYC band Habibi, and beverage sponsorship by Peroni. The series was a critical success with a high turnout of industry leaders; our target audience.
